I joined the UCM when I was 44. On a whim I went, with a friend to a Church social organised by the UCM ladies.
We had an enjoyable time and before he said the closing prayer our Parish priest said "Welcome to our two new members", so we were in!
After I was enrolled I became treasurer, then secretary and president of my foundation - English Martyrs, Huddersfield.
When I retired from full-time work as a podiatrist for the Health Authority I became Study Officer on the Diocesan Committee and then President.
Now here I am as National Welfare Officer and I hope as I grow into the job to be able to provide help and information to our Diocesan Welfare Officers and members. |
