The annual Pilgrimage if the Union of Catholic Mothers to Walsingham took place in early July.

Hundreds of members from around the Country descended on Walsingham bringing with them their Diocesan banners to carry in procession.

The Right Rev. Bishop Terence Brain Spiritual Advisor to The Union of Catholic Mothers was the Chief Celebrant. The Pilgrimage was led by the  National  President  Mrs Maureen  Mayers and the lead Diocese was Arundel and Brighton led by their President Mrs Joan Hodge.

A service of Light was held on Monday evening in the Chapel of Reconciliation ,the Pilgrimage candle was lit and placed in the Slipper Chapel .On Tuesday morning The Right Rev Bishop  Brain concelebrated The Holy Mass with many of our Diocesan chaplains.

In his homily Bishop Brain reminded us that Pilgrimage gives space for big question. Life and its beginning and purpose A silent procession along the Holy Mile took place after Mass when the Statue  of Our lady of Walsingham was carried through the village into the Abbey grounds and placed on the site of the original shrine. 

This traditional Pilgrimage is a very special  and valued time in the yearly calendar of  The  Union of catholic Mothers
